Zen to Done in 10 Steps

I have been reading Leo Babauta’s blog for some time and I have found his tips and insights very helpful when setting up my business. Some time ago I bought his eBook “Zen To Done” and finally sat down to read it through. He simplifies the GTD process to a minimalist set of habits to create. I am going to start implementing them one by one in my own practice and hope to get my clients to think along the same lines.

The steps are as follows:

  1. Collect
  2. Process
  3. Plan
  4. Do
  5. Simple trusted system
  6. Organize
  7. Review
  8. Simplify
  9. Routine
  10. Find your passion

The minimalist version of ZTD is just the top four. Good place to start.

    Tools needed:

A small notebook that you carry everywhere and a writing utensil. Nothing fancy. Leo likes (as do I) Moleskine notebooks. They have kept good company in the likes of Ernest Hemmingway, Picasso and Van Gogh. Wouldn’t you love a peek? Imagine if your ideas stand the test of time as theirs have.

I am going to start with the minimalist version. Leo stresses establishing one or two new habits at a time and using them for 30 days before adding more. That makes a lot of sense to me. Sometime I wind up organizing so much that I don’t get to the work. What is important is to find that balance and stick to it.

If you would like to read Leo’s ebook, you can buy it here for $9.50.

So today, I am clearing my in box. I’ll start step by step, making changes in my habits one at a time. How about you? Ready to join me? I’ll write about my progress.
